Chris's Response
AB245 makes it unlawful for a Nevadan under twenty-one to possess certain firearms. It makes it a separate crime to aid or knowingly permit a person under twenty-one to possess one. The bill treats a nineteen-year-old farm-raised Nevadan with the same legal default as a felon.
We send eighteen-year-olds to the United States military with the trust to handle a service rifle in combat. We license eighteen-year-olds to drive a twenty-thousand-pound truck on Interstate 15. We allow eighteen-year-olds to vote, sign contracts, and serve on juries. There is no constitutional theory under which the Second Amendment alone snaps off at age twenty.
I will support every effort to roll back AB245 and I will oppose every future bill that treats adult Nevadans as anything less than adults.
