CPB and Steve Sanchez: "Most Politicians are Mentally and Physically Weak!"

May 10, 2026

Thirteen seconds, deliberately provocative

Chris Brandlin and Steve Sanchez on strength and discipline in politics — a short, blunt clip arguing that most office-holders lack both.

Stated that bluntly it is a soundbite, and worth unpacking rather than repeating. The defensible argument underneath is about stamina and self-governance: that legislative sessions are genuinely demanding, that fatigue degrades judgement in measurable ways, and that someone unwilling to do hard things for their own benefit is unlikely to do them for anyone else's.

What it is not, and should not be read as, is a claim that physical capability qualifies a person for office or that illness or disability disqualifies anyone from it. Plenty of effective legislators would fail a fitness test, and that has never been the measure of the work.

The longer, more careful version of this argument is Healthier People in Office.
