The plan for stronger, healthier Nevada kids
Chris Brandlin's case for improving children's health in Nevada — nutrition, movement, and the institutions that shape both.
This is the short-form statement of the position covered at length in Make Our Children Healthier Again in Nevada. The three levers are the same: what schools serve, how much of the day involves movement, and how much is spent in front of a screen — all decided at state and district level rather than federally.
The argument for treating it as urgent is that childhood metabolic health compounds. Conditions established early are considerably harder and more expensive to reverse later, which makes this one of the few areas where prevention is unambiguously cheaper than treatment.
