Getting Nevada kids moving
A youth fitness challenge with Chris Brandlin — part of the public-health platform he is running on in AD-42.
The theory behind events like this is simple and reasonably well supported: children who find a physical activity they enjoy early are far more likely to stay active as adults. The difficulty is rarely capability. It is that many kids have never been shown a form of movement that felt like anything other than a test they failed.
That is why the school-level policy argument keeps returning to physical education. A challenge event reaches the children who show up; a PE requirement reaches the ones who would never have come. Both matter, and only one is a legislative question.
