CPB Challenges BBall Kid at Smiths
May 10, 2026
A shooting contest in a grocery store parking lot
Chris Brandlin challenges a high-school basketball player outside Smith's, with a campaign donation on the line.
It goes about as well as a middle-aged attorney challenging an actual high-school athlete should be expected to go. That is the joke, and he is in on it.
Underneath the bit there is a real observation about district campaigning: the useful conversations rarely happen at organized events. They happen in parking lots, at gas stations, and outside grocery stores, with people who had no intention of talking to a candidate that day.
Related: a skateboard and a hill, the youth fitness challenge, and Saturday on the doors.
